Ready, Set, Learn at Carlin Elementary Middle
On Monday, January 19, 2026, families and community partners gathered at Carlin Elementary/Middle for a warm and engaging Ready, Set, Learn (RSL) session that blended early learning activities with connection, creativity, and fun.
The event welcomed young children along with supportive community partners, including a Public Health Nurse and a representative from Child Care Resource & Referral. Together, they explored hands-on learning experiences designed to support early development and foster positive school connections before kindergarten.
Throughout the session, children rotated through a variety of activity stations set up within the school library. Craft tables were busy with young hands cutting, gluing, and decorating, strengthening fine motor skills while encouraging creativity. Nearby, children enjoyed imaginative play, setting up an animal picnic with soft toys, bowls, and colorful play items, which was a highlight that sparked storytelling, cooperation, and plenty of smiles.
Books and literacy-based activities were woven throughout the space, reinforcing the importance of reading together and language development. Children explored picture books, engaged in pretend play inspired by stories, and participated in simple shared activities that model ways families can support learning at home.
Ready, Set, Learn is a free, province-wide initiative offered by our District to support families of children ages three to five. The program is designed to offer fun and playful learning experiences, help children become familiar with school environments while also connecting families with local resources and early learning supports.
Community partnerships are a cornerstone of the program. Having health and childcare professionals involved allows families to ask questions, build relationships, and access support in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
The photos from the event highlight the spirit of Ready, Set, Learn, from focused time at the craft table to imaginative group play on the reading carpet. These shared experiences help build a strong foundation for a confident and positive start to school.
